Nevada prison guards call for director’s ouster

CARSON CITY, Nev. – The union that represents Nevada correctional officers are calling for the resignation of prison director Howard Skolnik, alleging that poor management within the department is putting officers and the public at risk.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees issued a statement overnight, saying morale among correctional officers is “at an all time low” because of untrained administrators

The union also alleges retaliatory actions by administrators against union members.

Union leaders plan a news conference Tuesday in front of the state Capitol building in Carson City.
