Deputies: Arkansas Jail Inmate Dies After Hanging

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (AP) – Baxter County sheriff’s deputies say a 37 year-old jail inmate is dead after apparently hanging himself.

Deputies say they arrested Scott Eric Ellis of Mountain Home early Sunday morning after receiving a report of a man walking down a highway pointing firearms at passing cars. Just after 6:00 a.m., jailers say they found Ellis hanged himself in a holding cell he alone occupied. Paramedics arrived at the Baxter County jail and determined Ellis was dead.

Deputies told Mountain Home radio station KTLO that the Arkansas State Police will investigate the death. Ellis’ body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for an autopsy.
